Pronounced ‘Nen’ or ‘Nin’ depending where you’re from, the River Nene is a large river in the Centre/East of England. From source to sea, the river measures around 100 miles, and is the 10th longest river in the UK.

Rising in Northamptonshire and flowing North East to the Wash at Lincolnshire, the river is navigable from the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal. From here you can follow it all the way to the Wash. It’s an excellent paddle for those looking for a multi-day adventure!

The River Nene also feeds the Nene white water centre at Northampton. An artificial white water course used for white water practice, rafting and slalom competitions!
