The Swaffham Bulbeck Lode is another of the Cambridgeshire lodes. The canal or ‘lode’ joins the River Cam around 1.5 miles below Bottisham Lode. It measures just over 3 miles long to the hamlet of Commercial End. The hamlet is tiny, as suggested by the term hamlet, but absolutely beautiful and well worth a walk around. Country roads lined with a contrast of pretty little cottages and grand farmhouses, the hamlet is a country escape dream.

Most of the Swaffham Bulbeck Lode is quite exposed, providing superb views of the Cambridgeshire countryside. For this reason, make sure you double check the weather forecast and specifically wind direction and speed to ensure a safe and enjoyable paddle.
