The Reache Lode is located in Cambridgeshire. It is one of the many ‘lodes’ in the area that eventually connect to the River Great Ouse before joining The Wash at Kings Lynn.
First, the Reach Lode joins the River Cam at Upware though, before joining with a few of the other lodes and then continuing their journey through Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Interestingly, the village of Reach where the lode begins has been a trading port since Roman times. That means it’s a great place to paddle for history and nature buffs, with the sites of special scientific interest and ancient sites and monuments along the route.
