The Nottingham and Beeston Canal is a relatively short paddle at just 2.5 miles long with 3 locks. The canal flows straight through the city of Nottingham, directly under the towering, old British Waterways building, past the court system and past the very popular waterfront venue where you’ll notice hundreds of people enjoy spending time when the sun comes out!
The canal acts as a ‘bypass’ to the River Trent. You can access the canal at Beeston and take the canal to paddle straight through the centre of Nottingham. The canal then joins the River Trent at Meadow Lane, where you’ll be greeted with views of Nottingham Forest and County football clubs and the town of West Bridgford. From here you can continue on down the River Trent.
All in all, this is actually a really pretty little paddle, with some superb graffiti art along the way too!
