Wigan Canoeing Group offers kayaking, open canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding at Scotmans Flash on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons from March to November. We also offer club trips throughout the year - on rivers, lakes, estuaries and the sea. Most of all we believe that paddling should be fun! Wigan Canoeing Group was formed in 1992. We are an affiliate member of the Sailing Club on the same site, which allows us access to their clubhouse and changing rooms. We're a beginner-friendly club, and anyone is welcome to come down to a session and learn with one of our instructors. Boats and all specialist equipment are provided.We typically average around 70 members, of all ages. In addition to sessions at the Flash, we run trips on flat water (canals, flat rivers and lakes), white water (for those completely new to white water up to Grade 4), and on river estuaries and the sea. Day trips are usually either local, in the Lake District or North Wales, and there is usually at least one multi-day touring trip to Scotland per year.Members also have access to pool sessions during the winter months; we firmly believe that where there's water, it's a good day to go paddling!Want to know more?
