Solihull Canoe Club is based on the Grand Union Canal in the village of Catherine-de-Barnes in the West Midlands.  The Club is a registered charity with the aim of encouraging people to try canoeing and kayaking as well as promoting the sport of flat water racing, both marathon and sprint.  We are very pleased to be a British Canoeing Quality Club.Although we have a keen racing section who compete regularly, we also have a touring group who go on club river and canal trips. Have a look at our website to see what we get up to! We have racing kayaks and a Va'a (outrigger canoe) suitable for anyone with a disability who wants to race. We also have additional boats and adaptations to allow almost anyone to get into a boat and paddle for fun and exercise. We meet almost every Saturday, in the morning for the racers and in the afternoon for the recreational paddlers. Introductory sessions are held on a sunday for disabled paddlers, with a view to them moving to the regular saturday racing or recreational sessions once they have gained some confidence in paddling.  The club has links with various schools, and youth organisations in order to encourage people to take part in and enjoy canoeing. We have just over a hundred members spanning a wide age range, from around 8 to 80+, with lots of female paddlers (including a number of female coaches) and families are very welcome. We are very happy to welcome experienced canoeists/ kayakers but also  for complete beginners to come along and have a go - all we ask is that you contact us in advance so we can ensure we have enough coaches available.
