PACKERS Canoe Club started over 20 years ago as an offshoot of the Peterborough Scouts and Guides Canoe Club. It was called Peterborough Area Canoe and Kayak Club, and soon became known as PACKERS.As the sport of kayaking and canoeing has grown, so has the club. Drawing members from around the Cambridgeshire area and even as far away as Leicestershire we regularly have 200+ members a year.Today PACKERS meets during the summer from late April to early September on a Wednesday evening and is based in the Watersports Centre at Ferry Meadows. You’ll find us operating out of the sailing race hut from around 6.30pm. In the autumn/winter/spring from September to April we move to the Leisure Centre in Ramsey on a Friday evening from around 6.45pm where members can hone their paddling skills, especially the Eskimo roll, in the swimming pool. Packers Canoe Club is a volunteer not for profit club affiliated to British Canoeing. We operate under a Club Constitution and Rules as well as Code of Conduct and Policies, which are in line with British Canoeing guidelines. British Canoeing also provides the club with its public liability insurance.
