Beat the pandemic blues, come and join us at Mercia Canoe Club. We have a full range of canoes, kayaks, paddle boards (SUP) that you can use. Most activities at the club are on Saturdays. There is all the equipment needed to be safe on the water.  Spend some quality time outdoors making some great memories and friends while learning new skills and abilities. The sport is a low-impact activity that can improve your aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility. Don’t worry if you have never paddled before. All styles can be done as a hobby, a competitive sport or as a fun activity. We are open all year round. There are training sessions for those club members who want to gain their British Canoeing personal performance awards. We support voluntary club members who regularly give their time to help others, by paying for coaching and leadership awards and first aid training. On Monday and Wednesday club members meet in the evening for a paddling session of around one hour. This is coach led, speed and endurance training, in the faster and longer, more unstable touring and racing kayaks. The club has a small number of loose weights and a bench which can be used by adults and those over 16 under supervision. We have two paddling machines which replicate the paddling technique on land and a concept rowing machine. We organise paddle trips for club members to local rivers such as the Avon at Warwick and Stratford and the Severn at Ironbridge. There are male and female changing rooms, Lockers are provided to put your valuables in and there are tea and coffee making facilities. We are a 10-minute walk from the City Centre and bus station.
