Aspire & Succeed was founded by local residents following the ‘Lozells riots’ of 2005 as a community-led mission to win change and shape the story of where we live. We have an unflinching commitment to improve the lives of local people regardless of background. We strive to do this through effective project work and by applying the craft of community organising. As a Locally Trusted Organisation, we are best placed to understand how to meet the needs of our community and how we can make a difference to people’s lives. We want more people to paddle more often, adding considerable value to the impact we are already having on improving community wellbeing. In partnership with many organisations, including six other new paddle clubs, our vision is to positively impact upon the health and wellbeing of the people and communities in Birmingham. Using the blue and green spaces we already have, enhance and sustain Birmingham’s unique canal environment, by  including all of its diverse population to paddle regularly in areas where to date there has been little or no paddle-sport taking place. We focus on using bell-boats, canoes and kayaks most suited to the flat and sheltered water of the canals - an extensive and accessible resource throughout the city.
