Severn Sailing ClubDespite its name, for historical reasons, Severn Sailing Club is on the River Avon, found near the village of Bredon's Norton on the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire border, about five miles fromTewkesbury and six miles from Pershore. As well as a fully functioning Clubhouse, we have just over four acres of beautiful grounds; plenty of space for a dinghy park, kayak and canoe racking, a camping and caravan park, play area for children, and car parking. We have an excellent community BBQ and a comfortable outdoor seating area on the clubhouse balcony giving spectacular views all around. The availability of a kitchen, bar, showers and toilet facilities mean that many club members spend whole weekends on site, and as the nearest road is half a mile away, even young children can play in the grounds safely. Both the river and the farmland and fields around the club hold much beauty and tranquility and are rich in wildlife. Getting out amongst it all is such a great way of de-stressing whilst connecting with nature and ourselves. The Club has a large membership for those who like to kayak, canoe or SUP. The Paddlers enjoy the miles of tranquil and stunning stretches of the Avon as well as organised paddles further afield on rivers and canals. The newly updated jetty provides straightforward launching for SUPs, Canoes and Kayaks with a specialised launch facility for the latter.

The River Avon in Bristol, or Bristol Avon as it is also known, rises in South Gloucestershire. It then flows through Wiltshire, to Bath and the Severn Estuary. Although the river is only 13 miles from source to mouth, the river length is actually closer to 75 miles. Being wide…
The 16-mile Gloucester and Sharpness Canal connects Gloucester to Sharpness where the canal meets the estuary of the River Severn. Built as a bypass to allow cargo ships to avoid the traitorous section of the River Severn, it is a historic canal. In the late 1700’s the section of the…
A lock heavy section of canal, the Stratford Canal is a great paddle for those looking to build up their portage strength. OK, we’re joking. But in all seriousness, if you do paddle along the Stratford canal be prepared for a portage or two. This is because this 26 mile…
