Colchester canoe club has been around since 1979 and prides itself on its friendly informal approach to canoeing and kayaking. Whatever age you are, if you feel you would like to have a go, we will accommodate you. Come to the club on a Wednesday night, with a change of kit and you will have a paddle, The club has a range of boats, paddles, helmets and buoyancy jackets to suit all levels, shapes and sizes. In 2023 the Essex Freestyle Community was formed and developed by colchester canoe club coaches/instructors. Over the years the club has developed a strong freestyle following and continues to do so.During our club sessions paddlers have the opportunity to learn freestyle kayaking. We have supported paddlers on the pathway to compete at national level and also develop their skills in the Team GB freestyle academy. We do not push people, but guide them, allowing you to develop at your own rate, rather than having specific groups and timeframes to adhere to, we make no charge for instruction. We believe you will progress further and faster with gentle encouragement guidance and paddle skills instruction as you progress. The club has a number of trained coaches many of whom will be on the water with you and ready to give free guidance and paddle skills tips. We cater for groups as well as individuals (although if there is a group of you please contact us first as we may be able to accommodate you on a separate night). Don't feel you cannot come down on your own, there are lots of people of all ages and backgrounds who are already members, ready to welcome you, we are known as one of the friendliest of clubs. Please look at our website and facebook page. We hope to see you soon. Come paddling!
