Newry and Mourne Sea Kayak and Canoe Club
Newry and Mourne Sea Kayak and Canoe Club is a small and relaxed club that caters for a range of abilities and canoe/kayak interests. We are a club run by members for our members. There is a very enthusiastic committee with active coaching and leader team and their emphasis is on enabling club members to become active competent paddlers, who are part of the team. Coaches and experienced paddlers are on hand to help out and provide advice, and the club has equipment for hire at nominal rates on club trips.
Our most active disciplines are sea kayak and open canoe day trips, and socialising. We have a few camping trips and weekends away each year too. We are blessed with some fantastic local venues to explore, sea kayaks give a wonderful opportunity to enjoy adventures on the doorstep. Some of our favourite venues include Carlingford Lough, Strangford Lough, Bloody Bridge, Ardglass, River Bann, River Blackwater.
We also have a particularly active group of paddlers who are retired and young at heart. So if you are feeling a bit stiff but fancy feeling a bit younger please give us a shout!
Our beginners' courses are often run in the sheltered waters of Camlough Lake. Membership is currently open to adults over the age of 18 only, and we also run courses for families and kids in the summer.
See you on the water!
