This year's Nottingham white water SUP Festival will combine the European white water SUP racing scene with plenty of water time to test your skills and push them to the limit. So, whether you are an existing white water SUP paddler who is itching to have a go at some competitive racing, a white water kayaker up for a different challenge, or a flat water SUP racer keen to put your board skills to the test, this event is for you all.
As part of the event, you will get the opportunity to try your hand at a couple of different white water SUP disciplines with both seeing a novice and advanced category allowing for anyone to win.
Please note the age limit is 14, but under-18s must be accompanies by an adult all weekend.
SUP slalom
Similar to canoe slalom, you will have to navigate around both upstream and downstream. Negotiate the gates to get to the bottom with the quickest time. But, be careful not to rush as touching or missing a gate will cost you valuable seconds.
SUPX
Racing 3-6 paddlers at a time, you will have to navigate a number of buoys while avoiding the other competitors on the water. In this race, contact is allowed so get your tactics ready.
As we have exclusive use of the white water course (alongside the commercial rafting activities) there will be plenty of time throughout the weekend to paddle on the course whilst there is no racing happening, with bank safety on hand across the weekend. Having exclusive use to the water means there will only be paddleboards on the water, giving you a great opportunity to paddle with new and existing friends.
Tickets cost £50 for the weekend, and will give you full water access all weekend, or £30 a day. Below is a rough timetable, however, it may change depending on how many rafts are on the water throughout the day. Exact locations of events are still being decided.
